About protocols, guidelines and pathways

TVCN have developed and maintained up-to-date Network-wide chemotherapy protocols over the last ten years for each Tumour Site Specific Group (TSSG).

The chemotherapy drug protocols give guidance to the Clinician on the most appropriate chemotherapy regimen for that tumour site, and the parameters that should be met to ensure safety when prescribing chemotherapy.

In support of these chemotherapy drug protocols we have developed various chemotherapy and supportive care policies. These are currently under review.

Care pathways, also known as clinical pathways or integrated care pathways, are one of the main mechanisms used to manage quality in healthcare by helping standardise care processes.

Treatment referral pathways identify the direction of patient flow for specialised treatments across Thames Valley Cancer Network.
